ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - More than two and a half million people in Missouri and Illinois could soon lose vital SNAP benefits.

For Cheyenne Farris, her family is her whole world, but now she is filled with worry as the government shutdown drags on and SNAP benefits are set to stop or be delayed come Nov. 1.

“It stresses me out to the point where like makes me wanna puke, it makes me wanna cry cause it’s not just me going through this, it’s millions of people,” said Farris.

In Missouri, 650,000 people require help from food stamps, and that number is even higher in Illinois, with 2 million people.
