PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Drivers in Putnam County may notice extra law enforcement presence on residential roads.

“Some of these roads are unmarked roads,” Putnam County Sheriff Bobby Eggleton said. “You get a lot of sideswipes [and] mirrors hitting mirrors.”

After various complaints from neighbors, Eggleton says he has directed extra patrols for Thompson, Cow Creek, Mount Vernon, and Dairy Road.

“If you are in a residential area, you are going 55 miles an hour, expect a citation,” Eggleton said. “We just want people to be safe.”

The sheriff said deputies will actively be patrolling and issuing citations for speeders.

This will help increase safety and raise awareness to slow down, especially during school pick up and drop off.
