OILERS 3, SENATORS 2 (OT)
The Ottawa Senators will have to file Tuesday night under the moral victory category.
They had no other choice, and at least the effort wasn’t totally pointless as they erased a two-goal, third-period deficit, but dropped a 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers in front of 17,436 at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Coming off a 5-4 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday, the Senators knew they had to play better defensively against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers or it could get ugly.
Jake Wallman scored the winner on the power play in overtime.
The Senators have struggled to find the form that carried them to a playoff spot last spring in the first seven games of the year, but it’s fair to say this was a step in the right direction for 60 min
