A Sophie Warren goal with 4:15 left to play was all Cumberland Valley needed to get past Governor Mifflin 1-0 in the opening round of the District 3 4A girls soccer tournament Tuesday at Eagle View Middle School in Mechanicsburg.

The goal came after Warren chased down a deflected shot from Catherine Tiday. Rylie Alvarez initiated the play with a ball into Tiday.

The top-seeded Eagles, now 15-1-1, have won seven consecutive games and will play the winner of No. 8 Penn Manor and No. 9 Warwick in the quarterfinals Saturday.

The Comets and Warriors are clashing at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Millersville.

Cumberland Valley will be looking for a better fate in the quarterfinals than last season, when it lost 2-1 to Northern.
