With his ever-present flair for the dramatic, Brad Marchand met his moments both early and late on Tuesday, and his Florida Panthers teammates – not to mention serendipity – made sure he left Causeway Street with a smile.
After Morgan Geekie tied the game with 1:31 left with the goalie pulled, the Panthers got a fluky game-winner when Carter Verhaeghe hit the post and the long rebound went off Andrew Peeke’s skate and into the net with 25.7 seconds left. That gave the Panthers an entertaining, emotion-packed and tad bizarre 4-3 victory over the Bruins in Marchand’s first game back to the Garden.
The Bruins wiped out a two-goal Florida Panther lead early in the third period, but Marchand helped the Panthers regain the lead on Eetu Luostarinen’s goal midway through the period.
