PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WSAV) - Tuesday was a big day for Port Wentworth's biggest investment.

The multi-million-dollar Ice Cove and amphitheater was topped off with the last beam as the facility is less than a year out from completion.

"We're really excited to give this another milestone because this was just a forest two years ago," said Port Wentworth City Manager Steve Davis.

The site, behind I-95 off Meinhard Road, is not forest anymore.

The City of Port Wentworth and the Savannah Ghost Pirates commemorated the progress in a big and fitting way with city leaders and members of the team marking an "X" and burying treasure meant to serve as a time capsule.
