ALABAMA, N.Y. — The Tonawanda Seneca Nation is celebrating a major environmental landmark after approvals for a data center in Genesee County were rescinded.
Plans for a data center at the WNY Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP), in Alabama, NY, will not be moving forward after the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) chose to rescind approvals for the project in September.
The decision comes after months of back and forth between the GCEDC, the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, and the Sierra Club. In July, the Tonawanda Nation and the Sierra Club filed litigation seeking to stop the development of the data center, the parties claimed that the approvals for the center violated environmental requirements put in place by the State Environmental Quality Revie
