CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Chesterfield Police are now investigating a potential shooting that sent one woman to the hospital.

Police responded to a shooting at the 12700 block of Deep Well Road on Oct. 21, around 6:05 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had a graze on her neck from a gunshot. Witnesses also told police they heard shots being fired in the area.

Police say the initial investigation indicates that the injury might have been caused by a stray gunshot.

When officers searched the area, they found no evidence of a shooting.

The woman was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Police believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
