BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Baton Rouge leaders have long said one of the keys to reducing crime is community policing, and that belief took center stage Tuesday, Oct. 21, during the National Night Out Against Crime.
The event brought together residents and law enforcement officers outside the Inspiration Center at Howell Park to build stronger relationships and promote safer neighborhoods.
Liz Robinson, who lost her son Lewis to gun violence in 2018, said she believes events like this can help bridge the gap between police and the community.
“I think the city of Baton Rouge has some work to do, and it’s going to take all of us to get this work done,” Robinson said.
