PHOENIX — The widow of a Phoenix police officer is suing to block the sale of the gun that was used to kill her husband.

Julie Erfle only recently learned that Phoenix police still have in their custody the weapon from the fatal shooting 18 years ago.

Arizona law requires to police to sell the gun.

As a crime victim and on behalf of other crime victims, Erfle is suing to make sure that doesn't happen.

"I want it destroyed," she said during an interview Tuesday at her Phoenix home.

"It doesn't deserve a second chance. My husband didn't get a second chance. Why would this weapon get a second chance?"
