He's one of the newest players for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2025-26 NBA regular season.

It's been a bit of a winding road for Smart to get here.

He's been a big name in basketball circles for a long time: Smart was a five-star recruit out of high school who went to Oklahoma State.

Since then, he's played for four NBA teams, and he's done a lot of good things.

Smart was the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year. He's made All-Defense First Team three times, as well.

It's a great pickup for the Lakers, one they hope helps them chase a championship.
