A Marine veteran went missing a month ago, and his family is searching for answers.

Joel “Deano” Valdez, 36, disappeared on Sept. 18. After finishing work in Silver City, N.M. around 11:45 a.m. local time, he stopped at an ATM and Allsup's convenience store in Santa Fe, N.M., his family told KOAT .

He texted his wife that he was on the way back home to Coyote, N.M., at 2:30 p.m., and spoke with his cousin Monique Garcia via phone shortly after.
