EXETER - The Exeter High School field hockey team buckled down when it mattered most in a Division I first-round game against Bishop Guertin on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

In the final seconds of the fourth quarter and after the buzzer, the eighth-seeded Blue Hawks stopped four corner opportunities by No. 9 Bishop Guertin and held on to a 1-0 win.

Exeter head coach Deb Grott praised the performance of goalie Amalia Gloss and the teams' three defenders Lizzie DeLello, Dylan Valade and Callan Myers.

"(Gloss) was rock solid tonight, as well as our defense," Grott said. "They were solid back there, thank goodness."

Exeter's Dani Caron scored the game's only goal in the second quarter.

Exeter (10-7) will face top-seeded Keene (14-1-1) in a quarterfinal game on Friday, Oct. 24. Keene beat Exeter, 4-0
