The high school football regional playoffs are just a few weeks away, and each team on this list has a good shot to play beyond the regular season.
There are four teams on this list, Cardinal Mooney, Venice, Booker and Palmetto, that are ranked as the No. 1 team in their region, and two of them, the Cougars and Tornadoes, are ranked as the No. 1 team in their classification.
That means we could be on the lookout for several teams to make a run at a regional championship and beyond.
As far as local rankings go, there was a bit of a shakeup this week as Palmetto recorded a decisive win over Manatee and Parrish made a statement by upending previously undefeated Lennard.
