HUDSONVILLE, MI –– Sensing his team’s patience running a bit thin, Tim Halloran hollered a word from the sidelines that Portage Central boys soccer is all too familiar with …
Relax.
No longer than a few minutes after Halloran’s cue, the Mustangs took a collective deep breath and proceeded to find the back of the net –– a reset that ignited a 2-0 romping victory over Midland Dow in a rain-soaked regional semifinal on Tuesday.
For the fourth straight year, Division 1 top-ranked Portage Central (21-0-2) advances to a regional final. The Mustangs are set to play East Kentwood in Thursday’s regional final –– the Falcons knocked off Holland West Ottawa in the other regional semifinal.
“Sometimes our team, we go out there and we’re not playing our soccer,” Portage Central senior Gavan Sherman
