Lizzo is being sued for alleged copyright infringement over a song that has not been commercially released. Lawyers for The GRC Trust have filed a lawsuit against Lizzo and her label, Atlantic Records, over I'm Goin' In Till October, also known as Good Jeans, which blew up on TikTok and Instagram earlier this year. According to TMZ, the lawyers allege that Lizzo sampled and copied both instrumental and vocal elements from their copyrighted work, Win or Lose (We Tried), without permission. In a statement, a representative for the Truth Hurts hitmaker expressed surprise about being sued over an unreleased song. "We are surprised that The GRC Trust filed this lawsuit," the rep said. "To be clear, the song has never been commercially released or monetised, and no decision has been made at this time regarding any future commercial release of the song." In the lawsuit, the lawyers claimed that both parties tried to reach an agreement about sampling the original composition, but never worked out a deal. They have accused Lizzo of knowingly using their copyrighted work for commercial gain without paying to license it. The trust is seeking damages and an injunction to block the exploitation of its song. The copyright infringement complaint is the latest legal setback for the Juice singer. In 2023, she faced a series of lawsuits from former employees, alleging sexual and racial harassment, weight-shaming, and a hostile work environment. She denied all of the claims. Last year, a judge rejected her request to dismiss the case filed by three former backup dancers. He dismissed claims of fat-shaming and disability discrimination but upheld some of the sexual harassment and racial and religious discrimination allegations.
