Year after year, Delhi grabs the attention after Diwali over its air quality. This year was no different as nearly 2 crore people in the national capital woke up on Tuesday breathing the most polluted air of any major city in the world, sparking an intense debate. However, the same sense of urgency or focus goes missing when it comes to other metro cities like Kolkata or Mumbai, where the air was equally toxic on and after Diwali.
The same story plays out year after year, where pollution is seen as just a Delhi-NCR issue , and not as a national crisis. This, however, doesn't take away the fact that Delhi recorded its worst post-Diwali air quality in the last four years on Tuesday, with the AQI (air quality index) in the "very poor" category at 350. There was no discernible change
