MADISON, Wis. -- The Goodman Community Center has kicked off its annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive, now in its 37th year, to help local residents prepare a traditional holiday meal. News 3 Now is once again proud to sponsor the event.
Since its founding, the drive has become a community staple, supported by long-time staff, volunteers and returning children.
This year, the Center plans to register 4,000 families, representing more than 25,000 residents of Dane County, including over 10,000 children.
Registered families will receive everything needed to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal, thanks to contributions of food, time and money from community partners. Hundreds of volunteers are mobilized each year to make the distribution possible.
