BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - 19th JDC Chief Judge Donald Johnson is supporting Democratic efforts to redraw judicial maps across Louisiana after changes to the 19th Judicial District Court earlier this year.

Rep. C. Denise Marcelle has been pushing to redraw judicial maps for EBR Family Court and the First and 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which she says disenfranchises Black voters, judges, and attorneys.

“I see it and I watch people say they are Christians and they love everybody the same and we are all equal, but you are not treating us equal, you are not treating us fair, it is inequitable as it relates to the courts and many other things we fight for at the Capitol,” Marcelle said.

Marcelle filed a bill asking for at least an additional seat, but it never made it out of committee. In
