HANNIBAL (WGEM) - The Hannibal City Council approved the sale of the 12-acre technology park property to the Missouri Municipal Utility Commission on Tuesday evening.
According to our news-gathering partners at The Quincy Herald-Whig, the Hannibal City Council approved the sale at the price of $30,000 per acre, as well as an agreement to accept an annual payment of $300,000 per year in lieu of taxes from the Missouri Joint Municipal Utility Commission. The amount is also subject to recalculation every five years.
The Whig reported that the current plan for the property is that the utility commission will be building a gas turbine power-generating station, which is expected to generate 140 megawatts of power in the summer and 185 megawatts in the winter.
