New Delhi: India has responded strongly to fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi’s claims that he would face “inhumane conditions” if sent back to the country. To counter these allegations, Indian authorities have shared recent photos of Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail with the Belgian government, where Choksi’s extradition case is being heard.
These photos show barrack number 12, the same place where Choksi will be kept if he is extradited. According to government sources, the images clearly shows clean living spaces, proper toilets, and good lighting and ventilation. Officials said these photos prove that Indian prisons maintain basic human rights standards and provide inmates with all necessary facilities.
