Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ambled over to the rectangular box in the middle of the lane and peered inside. He wanted a sneak peek at the Oklahoma City Thunder ’s championship banner, and well, he’s the reigning MVP, so no one was about to stop him.

But when the banner began its slow rise out of seclusion, Gilgeous-Alexander bent over a look of glee on his face, then did a little happy dance.
