With the colder months on the way, hundreds of free coats were given to children in the Baltimore area on Tuesday.

Baltimore Archbishop William Lori joined officers of the Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus to give away new coats to children at the St. Michael-St. Clement School in Overlea. Nearly 300 coats were given out.

“Nice warm winter coats and of course all of us like to get new things, and these young people, deserving young people, are just very happy to have a brand new warm winter coat,” Lori said.

Lori said they have 800 more coats available that will be donated to other schools. The Knights of Columbus plan to distribute some 500 coats to children in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
