A man was arrested late Tuesday (October 21) after driving a vehicle into a Secret Service security checkpoint near the White House. The incident occurred at approximately 10:37 p.m. Eastern Time at the corner of 17th and E Streets NW in Washington, D.C. According to the Secret Service, the vehicle, identified as a 2010 Acura TSX with Maryland license plates, collided with the gate but was deemed safe after assessment by the Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was immediately taken into custody by U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers. There is currently no indication of a motive or whether the collision was intentional.
