HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The trial for a woman accused of sparking the 2,000-acre Carolina Forest wildfire is set to begin.
Horry County Central Jury Court and Alexandra Bialousow‘s attorney confirmed that her trial starts Wednesday morning in Myrtle Beach.
Bialousow allegedly started a fire to burn debris on March 1, 2025, in a backyard fire pit close to a tree line in the Covington Lakes community. Horry County and the state of South Carolina were under a burn ban when the fire started.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission said Bialousow “did not have an appropriate water source readily available” or “any garden tools on hand to control the fire.”
SCFC said Bialousow’s lack of resources led the fire to spread to land owned by the Walker Woods Homeowners Association.
