Popcorn sold nationwide is being recalled after several consumers reported finding a life-threatening allergen in the product.

Bags of Cabot Creamery Sea Salt Carmel Cheddar Popcorn sold in 6 oz bags are being recalled for an undeclared peanut allergy after the manufacturing company, Jodi Inc., was notified that people found peanuts in the product.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the affected product,” the FDA announced in a release .

Products are being recalled in 12 states: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, Oregon and Texas.
