Italian skiing star Marta Bassino faces a significant challenge as she races to recover from a leg fracture before the Winter Olympics on home soil. The 29-year-old athlete was injured during a training session in Val Senales, jeopardizing her participation in the upcoming games.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation confirmed that Bassino suffered a lateral tibial plateau fracture in her left leg following a crash. She was swiftly attended to by the FISI Medical Commission and later taken to Merano hospital for an X-ray. Further assessments, including a CT scan, will determine her course of treatment.
