NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. —
Police in South Carolina have arrested two people in connection with the alleged sexual assault and attempted prostitution of a juvenile, authorities said.
According to the North Charleston Police Department, the investigation began on Sept. 26 when officers found a missing juvenile in the 3100 block of North Atlantic Avenue.
The girl told police she had run away and was sleeping outside near a fast-food restaurant when a woman offered her shelter at a motel.
While at the motel, the girl said she was sexually assaulted by a man while the woman allegedly encouraged the assault. The victim also reported drug use in the motel room, police said.
Following the investigation, police arrested Renard Karij Deveaux, 48, on Oct. 17. He is charged with third-degree crimi
