DETROIT -- Two former Detroit Tigers are poised to earn a World Series ring no matter what happens in the 2025 Fall Classic.

Right-hander José Ureña and infielder Buddy Kennedy have the unusual distinction of appearing in games for both the AL champion Toronto Blue Jays and the NL champion Los Angeles Dodgers this season.

Only one ex-Tiger is currently on the active postseason roster of either team: 41-year-old future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer of the Blue Jays.

Several others, however, logged time with Toronto earlier this year. In addition to Scherzer, Kennedy and Ureña, catcher Ali Sánchez, left-hander Easton Lucas, and right-handers Chad Green, Jacob Barnes, and Spencer Turnbull all played for the Blue Jays at various points in 2025.
