As crews tear down part of the White House to build President Donald Trump’s $250 million ballroom , members of the public have asked D.C. to investigate what they called illegal construction. But D.C. says it doesn’t have jurisdiction over the federal property.

D.C.’s Department of Buildings (DOB) has received more than a dozen illegal construction inspection requests since the demolition work began on Monday, a spokesperson told News4.

The department has an online portal on which members of the public can request inspections.
