ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A man received a life sentence after pleading guilty to the drive-by shooting death of an Orangeburg County child.

The First Circuit Solicitor’s Office confirmed that Michael Thomas Lloyd pleaded guilty on Oct. 14 to killing six-year-old Winston Hunter. Lloyd was then sentenced to life in prison.

Authorities said Hunter was shot on May 13, 2022, on McClain Street in North after returning home from a family gathering. Hunter was reportedly on a couch when at least 20 bullets were fired into the home, hitting him in the head and wrist. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
