A beloved annual Sanford event is “hitting pause” for one year and planning to return in 2027.

Sanford Porchfest , a free outdoor music festival that raises money for art scholarships, will not return in 2026 for what was set to be its ninth annual event. Last year, the festival saw 35,000 attendees in the streets of Sanford’s historic residential district to see 74 bands perform on 18 porches.

To date, the festival has raised $200,000 for performing arts summer camp tuition and art scholarships for high school seniors and college students.

The team behind the festival shared the news on social media Tuesday afternoon.

“This decision was incredibly difficult, and we feel the weight of it deeply. Our festival has always been about more than music,” reads a post on the Sanford Porch
