LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A Louisville man is facing more than a dozen animal cruelty charges after police found several dogs in "extremely" poor conditions.

Tymane Harris, 49, was arrested Tuesday at a house on Rowan Street in the Portland neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police said they were serving a search warrant in an unrelated investigation when they found 19 dogs in the house, two of which are puppies.

"There is a limit when you look at square footage of where you're living and how you're able to care for them. And if these dogs keep breeding, more puppies are going to keep being born and I believe that's kind of the situation of yesterday," said Sgt. Jeremy Boehnlein of Louisville Metro Police.
