AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) — In collaboration with the city of Opelika, Auburn University and Lee County Mapping and GIS, the City of Auburn will hold a GIS Day celebration.

The Nov. 14 event will showcase the geographic information systems technologies used in local government and academic research. The city stated guests will be able to explore a hands-on augmented reality sandbox, check out the Auburn University Geo Explorer mobile lab and watch several drone displays.

The GIS Day celebration will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 at the Boykin Community Center auditorium. For more information on how the city of Auburn is innovating through the application of GIS, visit auburnal.gov/maps.
