LSU’s last chance to steal a win from Vanderbilt fizzled out when its offense couldn’t convert a manageable third down late in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers needed 8 yards. Though Garrett Nussmeier faced pressure off the right side, he still managed to fire a pass to an open receiver. Barion Brown had the separation. He just needed to adjust to a slightly underthrown ball and make the catch for what should’ve been a 10-yard gain.

But Brown let the pass fly through his hands and bounce off the turf instead, forcing LSU to punt. It was the Tigers’ second and final drop of the day. Their offense never got the ball back.
