A California Highway Patrol sergeant used her medical training and an OB kit to deliver a baby boy on a highway in Stockton during her shift.

Sgt. Heather Bonnett was working an overnight detail in a construction zone when she was approached by a driver who said his girlfriend was in labor.

"The state of pregnancy she was in and the state of labor she was in, she said, 'Baby's coming,'" Bonnett recounted. "So I said, 'OK, well let's get ready then.'"

She grabbed her OB kit from her emergency bag in her patrol vehicle and jumped in to help.

"I donned my gown and my gloves, and then went up and stayed with mom," Bonnett said. "Had her breathe through her contractions. Checked her, and then, yeah, 12 minutes later, the baby was born."
