Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Jyotiprakash Biswal and Shubhra Sambit Nayak, two accused student leaders in the self-immolation case of a girl student at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore.
The court rejected the bail pleas of Sameer Sahu, the Head of Department, and Dillip Ghosh, the college principal. The court also stated that bail applications filed after the chargesheet would be considered accordingly.
The case stems from the death of a female student who set herself on fire on campus, alleging sexual harassment by a senior faculty member. She succumbed to her injuries on July 14 at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, triggering public outrage, arrests of senior college officials, and state-level interventions. Tags: FM College Orissa High Court
