The Lokpal of India has sparked major controversy after floating a tender to procure seven luxury cars from BMW for its members. The price for each of these vehicles is around ₹70 lakh. Several Opposition leaders, as well as activists, have slammed the anti-corruption watchdog for its October 16 tender.
The tender, which is not transferable, was floated to procure seven BMW 3 Series 330Li cars.
Several leaders from the Congress party , including former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Abhishek Singhvi, have slammed the Lokpal of India and dubbed the tender a "tragic irony".
