Ministers are drawing up plans to cut planning red tape to make it easier for electric vehicle drivers to install domestic on-street chargers.

The Department for Transport (DfT) is due to launch a new consultation that will look at slashing planning regulations for homeowners without drives to install charging points across pavements.

Under the proposals, officials will examine whether to give permitted development rights to homeowners, for EV drivers seeking to install chargers that are embedded into the pavement to allow cables to run from the house to the vehicle. New Feature
