A teenager who stabbed fellow pupil Harvey Willgoose to death during a lunch break at a school in Sheffield earlier this year has been detained for life with a minimum term of 16 years.

Mohammed Umar Khan , 15, showed no reaction as he stood in the dock at Sheffield Crown Court for his sentencing on Wednesday.

Mark and Caroline Willgoose looked down on their son's killer from the public gallery, where the Khan family were also sitting.

Sentencing judge Mrs Justice Ellenbogen told the defendant his actions had "blighted" the lives of students and teachers at All Saints Catholic High School where Harvey Willgoose was murdered.

She told him: "From the evidence given at trial, it is clear that Harvey was also a popular pupil whom students and teachers held in affection.
