LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Humane Society says a dog it previously nursed back to health was returned last week in poor condition — and now needs the community’s help again.

According to the Humane Society, the dog, named Raisin, was adopted last summer after recovering from severe neglect. Before her adoption, staff said she weighed just 17 pounds, was covered in scars and sores, and suffered from anemia so severe her gums were white.

When Raisin was returned last week, officials said she weighed 19 pounds and was covered in fly bites, feces, and urine. The organization says she is now back in their care and receiving medical treatment.

The Humane Society has raised more than $400 so far to support Raisin’s recovery and is asking the public to donate to help cover
