“It’s been my dream since I was six years old to be at the Grand Ole Opry,” says Chad Rivette. “My dad was a performer, and I’d be yanking on his hand, saying, ‘I’m going to be on that stage one day.’ ” Article content Article content
The Sudbury singer-songwriter is setting out next week for Nashville, where the Josie Music Awards will be handed out at the Opry on Nov. 2. He’s also taking part in a JMA conference the previous day at the Belle Air Mansion.
In the meantime, a fundraising show has been organized to help cover the costs of the trip, which he plans to undertake with his wife. (His three adult kids would love to be there too, he says, but each is busy with their jobs and kids of their own.)
