WASHINGTON D.C., DC — On Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation unanimously approved new aviation safety legislation that addresses issues identified after a deadly mid-air collision in Washington, D.C. in January.

Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) announced the bipartisan legislation, called the ROTOR Act, on October 16. The legislation will require all aircraft equipped with "ADS-B Out" and flying in controlled airspace also to be equipped with "ADS-B In" technology.
