Before the first game of the season, the New York Knicks are already dealing with injuries to multiple players who will have big roles this year.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, New York's star forward Karl-Anthony Towns was downgraded from "questionable" to "doubtful" for their opening matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He added that there is "increased pessimism" about his status for the game. Towns is currently dealing with a quad strain, and while he is expected to try everything he can, it's possible it's not feasible. But there are some conflicting reports, as Stefan Bondy reported that Towns will play. Even if he does suit up, though, he is certainly not at his full strength.
Charania previously reported that Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson and do-it-all wing Josh Hart were both ruled out against the Cavaliers with injuries of their own.
While speaking with ESPN's Pat McAfee earlier this afternoon, Charania added there is a very real chance Robinson and Hart are missing "real time" to start the season.
This is obviously not an ideal start to the new tenure in the first year as head coach for Mike Brown.
