NASA has confirmed that Earth has a second moon – and revealed it will be with us until at least 2083.
Despite its heady title as our planet’s new ‘moon’, the object is actually an asteroid that has been orbiting the sun on a similar trajectory to our planet since the 1960s. It’s just 19 metres (62ft) wide and is the ‘smallest and least stable’ of the six quasi-moons that have had Earth-like orbits.
Experts at the Pan–STARRS observatory in Hawaii first announced the presence of this new 'quasi–moon', called '2025 PN7', last
