NEW ORLEANS, La. (KLFY) -- The legal problems for former Lafayette Assistant District Attorney Gary Haynes continue.
Haynes was suspended from the practice of law in Louisiana on an interim basis by the Louisiana Supreme Court's Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
Haynes was convicted on federal bribery and conspiracy charges Sept. 18. He was found guilty of soliciting bribes and kickbacks while he was an assistant district attorney at the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
He faces up to 65 years in prison and five years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
