More than 180 people gathered at Pin Seekers Monroe on Oct. 2 for the first Philanthropy Playoffs, a giving challenge hosted by the Community Foundation of Monroe County .
The event awarded more than $135,000 to 11 teams representing nonprofits and community causes throughout Monroe County, according to a community announcement.
The playoffs blended the excitement of game night with the heart of community giving. Each team represented a local cause, ranging from mental health and housing to youth leadership and historical preservation. Teams competed for grant funding through head-to-head competitions, pop-up challenges and the generosity of their fans.
