Authorities are investigating after thieves cut through the roof of a Florida mall to steal a large amount of sneakers.

The thieves cut their way through the concrete roof of the Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach, just north of Stuart, Martin County Sheriff's Office officials said Wednesday.

Once they got through, they dropped into the Champs Sports store and stole hundreds of pairs of Nike shoes.

The shoes were bagged up, thrown off the roof and loaded into a getaway vehicle, but photos released by the sheriff's office showed multiple boxes were left behind on the roof.

Detectives are investigating the shoe heist and are asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious around the mall between midnight and 8 a.m. Tuesday to call them at 772-220-7060.
