ATLANTA — Jason Carter, the grandson of President Jimmy Carter, put his stamp on the race for governor this week.

The Democratic former state senator endorsed Jason Esteves.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Georgia Vote , Carter explained why he chose Esteves out of a crowded field of Democratic candidates.

Carter, who ran for governor in 2014, also discussed how an unexpected medical diagnosis impacted his decision not to launch his own campaign this year—and talked about whether he would ever run again in the future.
