KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City leaders are launching a new program to address domestic violence by focusing on fathers with a history of abuse.
The program, called Fathers for Change, promotes accountability, public safety, and stronger families. Fathers with a history of domestic violence will go through a 19-week course with a registered clinician.
The goal is to show participants the effects of domestic violence and how it has a direct and lasting impact on their families. Kansas City’s domestic violence court is now the first in the country to adopt this program.
The initiative is spearheaded by Kansas City Judge Courtney Wachal, who presides over domestic violence cases and believes this initiative will create lasting change.
